Photography: wildlife and the northern lights

Does your new camera produce the results you were expecting?  Do you want to learn how to use this high-tech tool to its full potential?
Would you like to combine your holidays with learning how to get optimal results with your camera? In this fantastically raw and scenic landscape we’ll take you on a hunt for the arctic light, eagles, otters, reindeer and moose with us. If the conditions are right, even the northern lights may present themselves in front of your camera. We combine workshops and outdoor photo tours with intense experiences, good food and cozy get togethers. Our own photographer and guide will help you on the way with the right settings for your camera and with choosing the right motives. We work in small groups that enable us to meet individual interests, needs and abilities of each guest.

Our experienced photographer and outdoor guide Ian Robins is originally from Cornwall in England, but now his passion has taken him to one of the most spectacular countries in the world. He will show you how to get the best from your camera in breathtaking surroundings. He will introduce you to extreme situations like night photography and fast moving birds of prey and teach you how to take stunning pictures to impress those back home.

During your stay in Ringstad you will go on different tours and safaris. The eagle safari with the boat will bring you close to those elegant birds, a landscape tour along the seaside will give you the opportunity to take pictures of pittoresque views and if the conditions are right there may even be northern lights right in front of your camera lense.

Our photographer and guide will provide you with the necessary specific input – indoors as well as outdoors. You will be receiving inspirations by presentations and speeches, picture ciritics, photo demonstrations outdoors, discussions and social get togethers. We work with varying techniques and topics so that each of our guests can develop through new experiences, knowledge about composition, techniques of picture editing and of light, thoughts and reflections on taking pictures of animals, landscapes and light. Small groups allow us to meet each guest’s needs, capabilities and interests.

You’ll find us at the “house on the outside” that’s situated in a charming environment amidst mountains, fjords and archipelagos on the outside of Vesterålen. It’s approx. 60km to Sortland where we pick up our guests either from “flybussen” or from the quay of “hurtigruten”.
